Golden Eagle Syrup Through the Years

Mr. and Mrs. Viscotr Patterson, Sr. - Founders On October 28, 1928, the first can of Golden Eagle Syrup was produced in Fayette, Alabama by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Patterson, Sr. They had experimented with various mixtures of corn syrup and honey in an effort to find one that not only was delicious, but also mild.

First produced in in small frame building behind the Patterson's home, the Patterson's made the decision to move the manufacturing operations to a plant in downtown Fayette, AL in 1944.  This historic building remains the home of Golden Eagle Syrup today. 


Golden Eagle Syrup's Manufacturing PlantMr. Victor Patterson, Sr. died in 1960 and Mrs. Lucy Patterson ran the company until her death in 1972. Golden Eagle continued to thrive under the direction of the Patterson's children, Mr. Victor Patterson, Jr. and Mrs. Jeanie Patterson Newell, and son-in-law Mr. Herbert Newell, until 1986.


Today Golden Eagle Syrup is owned by brothers-in-law Trent Mobley and Vic Herren, and their wives, Teresa Mobley and Jennifer Herren. Golden Eagle remains a family-owned, family-run business; Vic and Teresa's dad, Mr. Jim Herren, is plant manager, and their mother, Mrs. Jeanette Herren, Golden Eagle Syrup - Current Owners and Staffworks at the plant. The present owners have a strong commitment to preserving the tradition and quality of Golden Eagle Syrup. Their mission is to continue to produce Golden Eagle Syrup in the manner of the founder's vision:

"A Syrup Without an Equal for Any Meal"
and, as always, "The Pride of Alabama.
